Cultures across the globe celebrate and promote hope and joy in winter.

 

We rejoice, seek renewal, create resolutions, celebrate and exalt the light we collectively share.  Calls for  renewal are greeted with a sense of expansion and possibility. We locate and enhance positive attributes and evoke reverence as a foundation for the positive things we all want to see for our planet.

 

-Celeste Worl interprets her background as a Tlingit Native Alaskan, with her own investigations into eastern religion. Her paintings illustrates this spiritual confluence.

 

-Charlie Carrillo is a New Mexico treasure. Carrillo is a nationally recognized Santero, honored by both the NEA and the Museum of International Folk Art. In this exhibition Carrillo reaches into our present world, and finds a way to express his innate reverence with his more rarely seen contemporary images.

 

-Jerry Wellman (using his pseudenom Geronimo Bonomo) explores the call to reverence that issues from places of the unknown or unknowable by combining images inspired by the early Rennaissance with images of deep outer space.

 

-Meridel Rubenstein has received numerous awards and fellowships for her photographic and installation work.  “A sense of fragility, transparency, and passage, in her works, underscores a possibility for change”.

 

-Dorjee Gyaltsen  Is a scholar and one of the first Tibetans in New Mexico. He combines the prescribed elements of the Thangka tradition with images of the New Mexican landscape.
