In 2014 Axle Contemporary created a series of exhibitions and events entitled Economologies. This included Wellman's Moneyless Yard Sale. Now Wellman continues his investigation into our social/economic possibilities with his art action: Talkos: red or green. Wellman, in the Axle Contemporary mobile gallery, will engage the audience with a food-truck like experience.  Instead of selling edible fare, he will serve sculptural tacos, stuffed with thematic writings on economy, politics, and ecology. The perennial New Mexico question of "red or green?" now refers to society and economics. Red might represent Communism, or owing debt, or the conservative American "Red States, "  Green represents the environment. Ultimately he suggests where art may fit into all this. Each element of the "talko," from the beans to the tortilla, contains a symbolic metaphoric reference. The paper sculptural tacos and their contents will serve as jumping off points for conversation and discussion. Wellman will also provide an "ala carte for conversation" and free samples!
