A look at an amusement park in the early winter when the colors and noise of the crowds are gone. The work subverts the expectations of thrill, excitement, sounds and the crowds in attendance that we remember when going to these parks. This work is a quiet space. The signs misdirect or are threatening and yet it’s still fun. Enjoy.
From the artist:
I am a Santa Fe artist who draws, paints and photographs. I moved here 40+ years ago and studied computer programming in order to teach digital imaging to other artists. My art practice was on hold for years until the last fifteen years when I had the time to return to my studio and could no longer resist painting and drawing.
I have been a fan of Axle Contemporary since I stumbled across the exhibit space years ago. There have been many thought provoking conversations with Matthew and Jerry about art and politics when I stopped to see the exhibits.
My life has always revolved around artists and for that I am grateful.
