Axle Contemporary's Summer performance series debuts this year with Mark Feigenbutz's The Comedy Cart.  Feigenbutz deconstructs the traditional comedy club by dislocation.  He will transform the interior of Axle Contemporary into a traditional comedy club with a brick wall backdrop, a spotlight and a microphone.  Inside he will perform his comedy routine as passersby observe or ignore him.  By locating the club in a van, on the street, in broad daylight, he calls into question the current  commoditization of stand-up comedy which he believes has stifled the evolution of this creative art form.
