Submissions

Axle Contemporary is interested in seeing new work by New Mexico-based artists.

Our program consists of a variety of sorts of exhibitions: Installations, Broadsides, New Media Art, Performance Art, Social Engagement Projects, and Group Exhibitions.

Installations

These are works which use the entire interior space of the mobile artspace and are viewed only from the exterior, often through a large sheet of glass or a grille which covers the rear entryway. These exhibition usually take place in winter and spring. Artists may send proposals to the email below.

Broadsides

These are large-format exterior wheatpaste exhibitions that are custom-designed by the artist to use the exterior aluminum surface of the mobile artspace as the base for the inkjet printed and wheat-pasted exhibitions.These exhibition usually take place in winter and spring. Artists may send proposals to the email below.

New Media Art

Axle often presents a work of New Media Art in conjunction with the Currents New Media Festival in June. More information on CURRENTS Festival of New Media Art hereArtists may send proposals to the email below.

Performance Art

We occasionally host works of Performance Art, in or adjacent to the mobile artspace, often in the Santa Fe Railyard. These exhibitions usually take place in Summer. Artists may send proposals to the email below.

 

Social Engagement Projects

These are mostly created by Axle's co-curators/artist-directors.

Group Exhibitions

These exhibitions are built by Axle's co-urators (or occasional guest curators) around specific themes. Occasionally these are deleted from calls-for-entries, released through e-mail, local press, Axle's website and social media. These exhibitions usually take place in the summer.
